Crystal Spring
". . . a center for learning our place in the universe story."
"To know the fruiting times and the flowering times, the migratory patterns of the birds in the bush, the secrets of the soil and the story of the rocks in our own backyard is to relearn our place in earth's unfolding story and to discover again for the first time the wondrous meaning of being human in the community of life."
Crystal Spring is a center for ecology, spirituality, and earth
education. Our purpose is to provide a center for learning that guides us into
an understanding of the new cosmology and supports the values and choices that
flow from that understanding. We work to become a living embodiment of a
bioregionally appropriate culture in all its aspects.
Crystal Spring, a project of the Kentucky Dominican Sisters, is rooted in the belief that earth is the primary revelation of the divine. It is earth in her abundant phases here, springs, glacian soil, rocks, open meadow, recovering woodlands, gardens, and human community that draws us to contemplative action.
We are one among the growing network of learning
centers and self-sustaining communities who give voice to the ecological needs
of our times by creating alternative models for li
ving in harmony with the natural world of which we are an integral
part.
Located on forty acres of land in southeastern Massachusetts, Crystal Spring was a gift to the Dominican Sisters of Kentucky in 1949. Today we are learning live simply and gently on this land and to share the blessings of this place with others.

Our mission is to participate with the many people of good will who work to bring us into an ecological age. Here we are a learning community becoming one with the natural world, connecting with others in the great common work, learning to live sustainably, coming home to our bioregion, offering programs that enhance our ecological awareness and rethinking our place in the universe.
