January,1994 We support legislation to prohibit the sale of semi-automatic weapons and to reduce the availability of handguns to private citizens.  In addition, we commit ourselves to work toward legislation which bans the possession of handguns by private citizens in our nation.
June, 1994 Recognizing the all pervasive reality of violence in our world, the Congregation of Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine, Kentucky seeks the promotion of peaceful solutions to problems.  In a world in need of healing and transforming of oppressive structures, we believe that the increasingly visible "Random Acts of Kindness" campaign offers a creative, realistic, non-violent alternative worthy of our wholehearted commitment as a Congregation, and we encourage all people of our nation to do the same.
October, 1995 As an expression of our mission statement to teach, to heal, to serve and to transform oppressive structures, the Kentucky Dominican Family strongly supports the movement to close the School of the Americas and to create in its place an Academy for Democracy and Civil Military Relations.
December, 1997 We, the Dominicans of St. Catharine, Kentucky, oppose the production, sale, and/or use of landmines and call for the elimination of uncleared landmines throughout the world.
April, 1999 We, the Dominicans of St. Catharine, Kentucky, join with other supporters of Jubilee 2000 who call fort eh forgiveness of the international debt of impoverished countries.
December 1999 We oppose U.S. military intervention in the Persian Gulf.  We no longer support economic sanctions against Iraq and we urge the United States to withdraw these sanctions with the exception of the sale of arms.
March, 2003 We, the Dominican Sisters and Associates of St. Catharine, KY, are opposed to the war initiated by the United States against Iraq.  Although we are against this war, we pray for the men and women serving in the military and their families.  The people of Iraq, including our Iraqi Dominican brothers and sisters also remain in our prayers.  In 1991, we were in opposition to military action in the Persian Gulf.  In 1994, we reinforced our message with a stance against violence for solving problems.

Today we continue our commitment for peace.  In our protests, in our peace vigils, in our individual ministries, we continue to speak out against violence.

January, 2003 We support a moratorium on the planting of GE (genetically engineered) crops pending environmental and human safety studies.  Until such time as this technology is proven safe, all foods containing GE ingredients should be labeled.
