Most people would like these two ideas. If you do, and you have not done so already, consider using compact fluorescent light bulbs. they are those bulbs you see in your local grocery or hardware store that look like a Dairy Queen soft serve. The initial cost is high but the long range gains are worth the price.
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an energy saving qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars.
Use less electricity. Shut the lights off when you are not using them. Shut your computer down when it is not going to be used for long periods of time.
Replace your regular light bulbs with the compact fluorescent bulbs.
