One of the pillars of Dominican Life is prayer. The
power of prayer has been an important part of our tradition from the very
beginning. Dominic depended upon the prayer support of the nuns to
further, strengthen and sustain the preaching ministry. Prayer continues
to be an important means of deepening our relationship with God, self and
others. We continue to rely on the prayers of the community to strengthen
us for our ministry.
Many of our Sisters who are retired or infirmed have
continued their ministry by becoming Ministers of Prayer. They pray for
the ministries and needs of the community, the Order, the Church and the
world. Time and time again we have seen the power of the prayer of these
Wisdom Women.
As they gather for communal prayer or for the
celebration of Mass, the prayer requests are included in their
petitions. We know that the needs of our world are many and the power of
God is vast. If you have a particular concern or need or special
intention that you would like the Sisters to pray for, you may e-mail
your request to Sr. Teresa at
webmaster@opkentucky.org These requests will
be forward to the Sisters at Sansbury Care Center and the motherhouse at
St. Catharine, Kentucky and Rosary Manor in Watertown, Massachusetts.
