Dominican Alliance Announces New Justice Resource Person
 

 

Racine Dominicans HomeThe leadership teams from the Dominican Alliance met before the Dominican Leadership Conference held in Sinsinawa, WI.  The members welcomed the latest congregation to join the Dominican Alliance.  The Dominicans of Racine, Wisconsin.  This brings the membership to thirteen congregations: Dominicans of Akron, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Dominic (New Orleans); Grand Rapids, MI, Great Bend, KS; Houston, TX; Kenosha, WI; Oxford, MI; Racine, WI, St. Catharine, KY; St. Mary's New Orleans); Sinsinawa, WI; and Springfield, IL

 

 

It was with great joy that the new Justice Resource Person was announced.  Sister Ceil Roeger, OP, a member of the Dominicans of Houston, TX will fill this position.  Sister Ceil, is a health care profession by training, but since the late 1970s Ceil has been involved in justice work including a shelter for battered women and their children, abolition of the death penalty, trafficking, and racism issues.

Ceil’s most recent ministry is Promoter of Justice, Peace and Care of Creation for her Houston Dominican community. She will continue in this capacity as she assumes the responsibilities of the Dominican Alliance part time position. Her office will be in Houston.  she will begin her part-time position of Justice Resource Person in October, 2007.  The Justice Resource Person provides information for the Alliance Justice Promoters and facilitates their collaboration. She conducts the research required to disseminate current and reliable information to the Justice Promoters and fosters awareness of advocacy issues consistent with the Dominican Call to Action.   Click here to read more about the Dominican Alliance.
