As far back as 1822 St. Catharine's has had a farm and a garden.  The produce from this garden feeds the Sisters throughout the year.  Jim Young and Charles Wright are the gardener's.  Jim came in 1966 to work on the farm as the "milkman."  He, along with his wife, raised his family in what was then called "the farm house".  This house has since been renamed and, of course, it was renamed by the Sisters to be "The Young House."  After a while Jim's worked changed from the farm to yards and grounds and the Motherhouse.  Now he is the head gardener along with Charles Wright.
