At the National Assembly, 2003 held in Detroit it seemed obvious to all gathered that the first person to be given this award be Mary Luke Tobin, SL.  Twenty two of the past thirty one living Presidents of the Conference were present to honor Sister Mary Luke.  Sister Joan Chittister and Sister Theresa Kane read a tribute tracing the events in Mary Luke's most graced life.

It was no surprise to any one that during the sing along Mary Luke got up from her seat and started to dance.
