In 1932 she entered St. Catharine Congregation, but left because of ill health. In 1941she reapplied to St. Catharine, and on August 14, 1941 she received the habit and the name Sister Mary Regis. She was professed August 15, 1942.

The first two years of her teaching career were spent in Elkins, W. VA. and McQuady, KY. In 1944 Sr. Mary Regis returned to the East where she remained until coming to Sansbury in 2000.

For twenty-three years she taught in Massachusetts in Waverly, Lowell, Gloucester, Belmont, and East Boston. Then for six years she taught in Brooklyn, N.Y..

At the age of 74 when most people are retiring, Sr Mary Regis began a new career. She became a Para-Legal Senior Aide in N. Cambridge. After completing her training, she spent twenty hours each week interviewing elderly citizens at the office or in their own homes to learn if they had need for redress of grievances regarding rent control, eviction, Social Security, and Medicare. Always the professional in manner and dress, Sr. Mary Regis was a reassuring presence to her clients and the sisters alike.

Her jaunty hats and gloves were her trademark.

In June, 2005, Sr. Mary Regis enjoyed the celebration of her one-hundredth birthday (all but the picture taking). Her niece came to join the Sansbury and Motherhouse sisters at a gala party.

We rejoice that Sr. Mary Regis returned to us nine years after recovering her health, and her long and fruitful life in the congregation confirms what the Rt. Rev. Joseph Nelligan wrote recommending her re-entrance, "I feel safe in saying that, as far as we humans can judge, there are solid evidences here of a Religious Vocation."
