Christmas at St. Catharine's

Advent slips by at St. Catharine's and little by little the colors, sounds, and songs of Christmas filter through the house.  Everything was decorated and all was made ready to
welcome and celebrate once again the Birth of Jesus.

We start the season with the lighting of the tree in the front hall.  We have Christmas carols and then share a cup of hot chocolate as we sit and visit with each other.  There are many parties over the last few days before Christmas.  A new addition to the decorations was a giant snowman on the front lawn.  He is so cute and will not melt!!

Christmas Eve vespers again gathered us, as a community, to spend the last few hours of advent in watchful anticipation.  The traditional candlelight supper was held and many guests joined us for the celebration.  At 7:30 PM we gathered for Christmas carols and liturgy.  This is always a wonderful celebration.  Sister Joye Gros always gives her Christmas message tot he community.  There were about 200 people celebrating the Birth of Christ.  the guests joined the sisters in sharing Christmas breads, baked by Sister Sue, and a cup of cider.  Liturgy on Christmas morning is celebrated at Sansbury Care Center

The new banner conveys the dream and hope of Christmas for the world but also holds new meaning for the Dominican Sisters of Peace.

The manger in Magdalen Chapel offers a place for quiet prayer and contemplation.

Sister Patricius decided the infant needed some warm clothes.
